Andrew has secured full-time work as a kitchen porter thanks to life-changing support from our Crew-it catering training programme.
“I really wanted to get back into full time employment and into the world of work so Crew-it has completely changed my life for the better,” he said.
Within just a few weeks of joining the scheme, Andrew successfully achieved a new Level 2 qualification in Food Hygiene, and learned new customer service, food preparation and barista skills at Porter's Coffee Shop in Rhyl.
Andrew said the programme gave him the backing he needed to get out and find a rewarding new job.
“I have suffered with mental health issues in the past and this has given me the confidence to develop all the skills in the hospitality and catering industry,” he said. “Crew-it motived me to attend jobs fairs and to get out there and look for work.
“I was amazed to secure a job within four weeks, it really gave me the motivation to get out there and find full time work. I cannot thank Crew-it enough for all they have done for me.”
Crew-it is a 16-week programme which provides training, qualifications and work experience opportunities within the catering and hospitality sector for people who live in Conwy or Denbighshire.
Participants — who may have experience of mental health or substance misuse conditions, or the criminal justice system — are paired with a dedicated employment advisor to help with employability and interview skills.
