A Gift in your Will
CAIS has been supporting people with addiction and mental health problems for over four decades. But, did you know that we also offer support around personal development, training & employment, counselling, peer mentoring and more, as well as offering a range of residential treatment programmes too?
Every day we help people like Ryan to take control of their lives and begin their journey to recovery.
Ryan’s Story
Ryan suffered from poor mental health and began abusing substances as a coping mechanism after becoming homeless at the age of 14. Until 2019, he had been in and out of prison and hadn’t managed to fully complete a probation period.
“I have had services in the past try to support me, but nothing helped me, and I ended up being back in prison”.
During his most recent prison sentence, Ryan started practicing Christianity and decided that it was time for him to seek the support he needed to start changing his life. Upon his release he began engaging with Tim from CAIS’ Cyfle Cymru service.
Cyfle Cymru helps people develop confidence, and provides support to access training, qualifications and work experience. The service aims to help people affected by substance misuse and/or mental health conditions to gain the skills necessary to enter the world of work. Services are provided by a team of peer mentors who draw on their own experience of substance misuse, recovery, and/or mental health conditions. They understand what the individual is going through and support them to overcome barriers and develop new experiences.
As a result of this support, Ryan went on to gain full-time employment with Morrisons and has successfully finished his probation for the first time.
“I feel better in myself and for once I am finally looking forward to the future. Cyfle Cymru has made a massive difference and because of it I have turned my life around.”
Why are gifts in wills so important?
These special gifts are so important to CAIS and the people we support.
Imagine being able to help someone rebuild their life after addiction? Or helping their families to cope with the stress of living with someone battling addiction? What about helping someone transform their life through tailored education and employment support?
You can do all this, through a gift in your will.
Knowing about your gift helps us plan for the future, and in these uncertain times, a gift in your will has never been more important.
How we’re funded
At the moment, most of our income comes from contracts with health boards, local authorities and the Welsh Government. That leaves us vulnerable to funding cuts and changing funding priorities. We need donations from people who support our work to help us continue to deliver the kinds of services that change lives.
When the time comes
When the time comes, and if you’d like to, please consider supporting a charity like CAIS through a gift in your will. After you’ve made sure that those you love are looked after, a gift of even 1% of your estate could mean that CAIS can continue rebuilding lives.
What you need to know
If, after you’ve provided for your loved ones, you’d like to leave a gift in your will to CAIS, you’ll need our charity address and registered number.
